To start and preview animations, press the SPACEBAR key or the play
button in the Timeline. That starts playing any animation you have in all
Editors.
We can expand the animation, making the object stay still for one
second and then going back to your screen's left side. First, add two
seconds to the total length of our animation. In the Timeline Editor,
change the End frame from 60 to 120.
Tip: Use the mouse wheel to adjust the zoom and view all frames from 1
to 120. The Home key can also adjust the zoom of your Timeline Editor.
To make your object stay still in animation, repeat the same keyframe. In
our case, you can set the current frame to 90 and press the I key with
the object selected. Do not make any changes to the object location.
Choose the location keyframe type.
As an alternative method, you can also select the keyframe with a left-
click at the Timeline Editor and press SHIFT+D. That duplicates your
keyframe. Move it to position 90 and confirm with another left-click.
You will notice that from frames 60 to 90, a solid line appears connecting
both keyframes in the Timeline (Figure 7.12).
Figure 7.12 - Timeline with solid lines
That is a visual representation of two keyframes with no changes
between properties. Since we didn't move the object, it has the same
location value for both keyframes.
